Deutsche Grammophon’s new product line: the first five releases

A new initiative for the music of our time

  • The launch of the new product line 20/21 in 1998 is the start of an innovative set of recordings championing the music of today - and the repertory of the future
  • Central to 20/21 are new releases featuring Deutsche Grammophon artists of the stature of Pierre Boulez, Oliver Knussen, André Previn, Gil Shaham and Gidon Kremer
  • Reissues of works central to the Deutsche Grammophon catalogue and CD releases of tape transfers of international radio broadcasts are also planned
  • Initial plans call for ten 20/21 releases annually
  • The first five 20/21 CDs show the line’s whole international and stylistic range: alongside three important representatives of the European avant-garde - Pierre Boulez, Mauricio Kagel and Luciano Berio - a new piece of music theater by American composer and conductor André Previn, as well as a CD of works by the leading Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu are offered
